Caylor Completes “Amazing” New Gospel Rescue Mission Facility.

After more than a year of planning, development, and construction, Caylor Design and Construction has completed the refurbishment of the Holidome Hotel into Gospel Rescue Mission’s new men’s shelter, the H.S. Lopez’s Family Foundation Center of Opportunity.

The complete renovation and remodeling of the 45,000 square foot main building of this iconic hotel and conference center enables Gospel Rescue Mission to greatly enhance and expand the homeless shelter and recovery services they will now be able to provide.

Caylor provided the leadership team that, along with Gospel Rescue Mission volunteers, successfully coordinated and facilitated the transformation of the old hotel into a modern facility that includes shelter beds, classroom, workforce development, office space, a chapel, medical and dental clinics, dining rooms, a full kitchen (capable of preparing 3,000 meals daily), and a 150-seat multi-media theater perfect for chapel services and classes.

This new facility, the first of its kind in the country, has been called “amazing” by staff and volunteers alike. It will allow Gospel Rescue Mission to greatly expand their current capacity, dramatically increasing the number of individuals they can help with vital human services ranging from shelter housing to workforce development and support accessing government assistance.

Hands of Hope: Built in Prayers

Last fall, Hands of Hope came to Caylor with the task of remodeling an old medical building for their new facility in the Tucson Medical Park. The objective was to turn a rundown office to a comforting and welcoming center where Hands of Hope could minister to their clients by providing medical, educational, and consultative support.

Hands of Hope, being a Christian non-profit, wanted to dedicate their new building back to God. One of the most unique and exciting parts of the project was that it was built in prayers. Literally. They placed their petitions in their new walls; in their new entry, they requested that we place a two by four that was covered in handwritten prayers.

Caylor only used 60 days of construction. We had great subs that made this process a short turnaround with so many hands willing to participate. Additionally, we partnered with Monica Ashbrook, a local design specialist, to create a welcoming and beautiful aesthetic for the building. Caylor is proud to have partnered with this local non-profit, which allows the love of Jesus to be shared to everyone who walks through their door.

“God was so good to connect us with Caylor Construction!” – Elisa Medina, Executive Director
